Cantiere 100 Years of Shipbuilding in Monfalcone

Fincantieri is celebrating the centenary year since the establishment of Monfalcone shipyard by holding an exhibition where visitors take a symbolic journey marked out by the various historical, social and industrial developments in the shipyard over the course of time. Occupying an area of 1,600 square metres, the exhibition is divided into four sections which describe the main events since 1908 up to the yard’s position of excellence today.

1908-1918 STARTING OUT
1919-1945 BETWEEN THE WARS
1946-1990 REBORN
1991-2008 THE LEADERSHIP

Along the exhibition’s pathway visitors can admire models, photographs, memorabilia and clips from the film archives of the RAI collection.
Visitors should not miss seeing: the foundation stone of Ugo Carà which decorated one of the salons of the motorship – the Giulio Cesare; the reconstruction of the interiors of the ships of the period; the motorboat Bora, which has been completely restored; and the scale reproduction of the seaplane Cant. At the end of the exhibition the shipyard opens its doors to visitors with a tour of the yard’s main production areas. There are three stops along the way: the naval workshop, the dock and wharf. The objective is to show the technical-industrial process behind the construction of these splendid giants of the seas.
