Fincantieri launches the submarine “Scirè”
Today at Fincantieri’s shipyard at Muggiano (La Spezia) there was the ceremony to launch the submarine “Scirè”, ordered by the Italian Navy within the framework of a programme of cooperation between the Governments and industries of Italy and Germany.

FINCANTIERI TO BUILD TWO MORE FERRIES FOR FINNLINES
The Finnish shipping group, Finnlines, has ordered a further two “ro-pax” ferries from Fincantieri by taking up the option foreseen within the contract for three sister ships signed last February. This brings the total number of ships ordered to five for an overall value of 500 million Euro.

THE“CARNIVAL VALOR” PRESENTED IN MONFALCONE
Today at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Monfalcone there was the presentation of the “Carnival Valor”, the passenger ship built for the American ship owner Carnival Cruise Lines, the world’s leading operator in the cruise business.
The ship, which follows the “Carnival Conquest” and the “Carnival Glory”, delivered in October 2002 and in June 2003 respectively, is the third in a series of sister ships and was built in record time - just 24 months (7 in the workshop, 9 in the building dock and 8 at the outfitting pier).

AGREEMENT BETWEEN TWO LEADING ITALIAN COMPANIES
On Friday October 29, on the occasion of the most important annual event in international yachting, the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show, Fincantieri and Benetti will announce their new partnership agreement. Both companies are regarded as world leaders in their respective markets, Fincantieri in large, high added value ship design and construction and Benetti in luxury yachting, and from now on they will be working together, using their combined know how and long-term experience, to design, market and build megayachts.

FINCANTIERI: FIRST SIX MONTHS 2004, POSITIVE TREND CONTINUES
Today, the Board of Directors of Fincantieri met to examine the course of business for the first six months of 2004, the results of which confirm the expected positive trend. Indeed, despite the continuing economic downturn and consequent uncertainty as to when the world economy will recover, the shipbuilding industry has continued to be active, as already noted last year, with an increase in demand in virtually all its sectors.

FINCANTIERI GAINS ORDER FOR A FAST FERRY
Fincantieri, through its Naval Vessel Business Unit, has won an order from the Swedish company Rederi A.B. Gotland to build a high speed ferry in accordance with IMO code HSC2000. The ship will be built at Riva Trigoso (Genoa) shipyard and is due for delivery in early 2006.

Fincantieri signs a five ship, 2.6 billion dollar agreement with Carnival Group
The agreement confirms the preferential relationship between the two Companies and foresees the development of new projects, including a 180,000 gt super ship. Fincantieri and Carnival Corporation & plc have signed a cooperation agreement which envisages the construction of four new ships and the redesigning and lengthening of a ship ordered last April.

FINCANTIERI TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW AIRCRAFT CARRIER FOR THE INDIAN NAVY
Fincantieri, through its Naval Vessel Business Unit, has recently signed two contracts with the Indian shipyard of Cochin; the contracts relate to design and assistance during the construction of a new aircraft carrier, the “Air Defence Ship”, for the Indian Navy.

THE HEAD OF THE STATE AT LAUNCH OF THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER “CAVOUR”
The Head of the State, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, and the Minister of the Defence, Antonio Martino, attended the ceremony held today at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Riva Trigoso (Genoa) to mark the launch of the aircraft carrier, the “Cavour”, which was ordered by the Italian Navy in November 2000.

PRESENTATION OF THE FERRY, “NURAGHES”, BUILT BY FINCANTIERI FOR TIRRENIA
Today at Castellammare di Stabia (Naples) there was the presentation of the cruise ferry Nuraghes”, built by Fincantieri for Tirrenia di Navigazione.
“Nuraghes”, which was launched on 24th January 2004, belongs to a new class of latest generation ferries; with four diesel engines each capable of providing 12,840 kW she is able to reach top speeds of 31 knots and maintain a cruising speed of 29 knots.

THE “ARCADIA” LAUNCHED AT VENICE-MARGHERA
Today, at Fincantieri’s shipyard at Venice-Marghera there was the launch of the cruise ship, the “Arcadia” which was ordered by the Carnival Group for P&O Cruises and is due for delivery in spring 2005.
Representing Fincantieri at the ceremony there was Enrico Buschi, Executive Vice President of the Cruise Ship Business Unit, and Paolo Capobianco, Director of the shipyard, whilst on behalf of the shipowner , there was David Dingle, the Managing Director of P&O Cruises and Carnival UK.

The Shareholders Meeting approves the balance sheet for 2003
The Shareholders Meeting of Fincantieri, which met today in Trieste, has approved the balance sheet for the operating year 2003 which recorded a net profit of 90.7 million Euro compared to 76.9 million Euro the previous year. The profit was allocated as follows: 4.5 million Euro (5%) to the legal reserve fund and the remainder, 86.2 million Euro, is carried forward.

THE CRUISE SHIP “WESTERDAM” DELIVERED IN MARGHERA
Today at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Venice - Marghera there was the handover ceremony of the passenger ship “Westerdam”, ordered by Holland America Line, part of Carnival Corporation & plc, the leading group in the cruise market. Representing Fincantieri for the occasion was the Chairman Corrado Antonini, the Deputy Chairman Roberto Tana and the Chief Executive Officer Giuseppe Bono; Holland America Line was represented Line by its President and Chief Operating Officer Stein Kruse.

The Board of Directors approves the annual accounts for 2003 Main indicators are up
The Board of Directors of Fincantieri, which met today in Rome, approved the annual accounts for the operating year 2003 which recorded net profit of 90.7 million Euro compared to 76.9 million Euro of the previous year (+ 17.9%). Fincantieri Group results have also improved considerably: production value, at 2,342.8 million Euro, is up 7.1%; the operating result, at approximately 122.0 million Euro, is equivalent to 5.2% of production value; net profit, at 93.1 million Euro is up 16%.

FINCANTIERI AWARDED AN ORDER FOR A NEW CRUISE SHIP
Fincantieri and Carnival Corporation & plc Group have reached an agreement to build a cruise ship of 83,000 gross tonnes for the British shipowner Cunard Line. The Company will invest 390 million Euro in the new ship which will be built at Marghera shipyard to enter service in January 2007.

A contract was signed at Luqa Barracks between the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) and Messrs Fincantieri for the construction and supply of an offshore patrol vessel to be built at Muggiano (La Spezia) shipyard with delivery scheduled for the 3rd quarter of 2005.

FINCANTIERI TO BUILD THREE FERRIES FOR FINNLINES
Today, in Helsinki, Fincantieri and Finnlines, the Finnish shipping company, signed a contract to build three “ro-pax” ferries (cargo/passenger). The total value of the contract is 300 million Euro. Furthermore the companies have agreed an option for two more sister ships (value of each vessel: 100 million Euro).

The patrol vessel “Corsi” delivered to the Coast Guard
Today, at Muggiano (La Spezia) shipyard, there was the delivery of the patrol vessel “Corsi”, the last in a series of five vessels that the General Command of the Coast Guard ordered from Fincantieri in summer 2000. Representing the Italian Government there was the Vice Minister of Infrastructures and Transport, Rt. Hon. Mario Tassone.

COSTA CROCIERE ORDERS A NEW SHIP FROM FINCANTIERI WITH AN INVESTMENT OF AROUND 450 MILLION EUROS
Scheduled for completion in 2006, the new building will be bigger than the Costa Fortuna, currently the largest ship in the history of Italian seafaring, which entered into service in November 2003. Genoa, 19th January 2004 – The Board of Directors of Costa Crociere, the number one cruise company in Italy and Europe, has approved a memorandum for the construction of a new ship to be commissioned from Fincantieri.
