FINCANTIERI ACQUIRES STX OSV AND BECOMES THE WORLD NUMBER ONE PLAYER IN HIGH VALUE-ADDED SEGMENTS
Fincantieri has signed an agreement for the acquisition from STX Europe of 50.75% of STX OSV, a company listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange and world leader in the construction of offshore support vessels for oil and gas extraction and production.
With 21 shipyards in 3 different continents, nearly 20,000 employees and revenues of Euro 4 billion, the Group is doubling its size. Fincantieri becomes one of the top five shipbuilders worldwide and the leading Western producer, also in terms of diversification and presence in the high value added segments, and is capable of competing with the Asian giants. Compared with the other four top producers, all of which are Korean, the Fincantieri Group boasts a leadership position in all the maritime high-tech sectors, and is enriching its product portfolio with this entry into the offshore oil & gas market.

CONSTRUCTION WORK BEGINS IN THE DRY-DOCK IN FINCANTIERI’S MARGHERA SHIPYARD ON THE “COSTA DIADEMA”
Weighing in at 132,500 gross tonnage and with accommodation for a total of 4,947 Guests, this will be the biggest Italian-flagged cruise ship afloat. She is the 10th Costa ship built by Fincantieri in Italy since 2000, with a total investment worth almost 5 billion euros.
The building and fitting-out, which are due for completion at the end of October 2014, will employ around 3,500 workers and 400 contracted suppliers.

LAUNCH IN ANCONA OF "LE SOLEAL" SUPER LUXURY SHIP FOR COMPAGNIE DU PONANT
"Le Soleal”, a super luxury cruise ship ordered from Fincantieri by the French shipping line Compagnie du Ponant (Bridgepoint Group), was launched today at the Ancona shipyard. The ship is to be delivered in June 2013 and will be essentially more like a mega yacht in size and for the paramount attention to her interior outfitting.

MY “ECLIPSE” leaves the Fincantieri Trieste shipyard
Fincantieri has satisfactorily completed a drydock on the megayacht “Eclipse”. The boat has left the shipyard following sea trials.
Maintenance activities were carried out at the Trieste San Marco shipyard and took approximately 4 weeks of work and the employment of some 70 persons.

DOUBLE ORDER FROM CARNIVAL
The US group Carnival Corporation & plc and Fincantieri have reached an agreement for the construction of two new cruise ships for the Holland America Line and Carnival Cruise Lines brands. Both ships will be firsts in a new, innovative class of vessel.

ASSONAVE: PULLING TOGETHER IN THE FACE OF THE CRISIS - Report on trend in the shipbuilding industry presented at Annual Meeting
Assonave – the National Association of Italian Shipbuilders, Shiprepairers and Ship suppliers- met under the chairmanship of Corrado Antonini in Rome today.

The report presented to the meeting showed that the situation is still critical: at 32 million compensated gross tonnes (cgt), world orders dropped by 18% over 2010 and in the first quarter of 2012 orders totalled less than 5 million cgt, down 24% on the same period in 2011. Were this trend to continue, 2012 would become one of the years when demand hit a record low.

Fincantieri and Viking sign a contract for the construction of two cruise ships
Viking Ocean Cruises and Fincantieri, world leader in the construction of cruise vessels, have signed a contract for the construction of two super luxury cruise ships.
Representing Viking Ocean Cruises was the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Torstein Hagen while Fincantieri was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Giuseppe Bono.

COSTA CONCORDIA: FINCANTIERI AWARDED CONTRACT TO BUILD THE “CAISSONS”
The contract provides for the construction in different Fincantieri shipyards of 30 steel watertight boxes, which will be used to right and refloat the vessel.

Genoa, July 3, 2012 – As part of the salvage plan to remove the wreck of the Costa Concordia, to be carried out by the Italo-American Titan-Micoperi consortium appointed by Costa Crociere, Fincantieri has been awarded a contract worth tens of millions of euros for the building of the watertight boxes, known as caissons, to be used in the operation to refloat the ship.

SECOND PATROL VESSEL FOR THE EAU NAVY LAUNCHED: THE “QARNEN”
Today at Fincantieri Muggiano (La Spezia) shipyard there was the ceremony to mark the launch of the “Qarnen”, a patrol vessel under construction for the United Arab Emirates Navy.
Her sister ship, the “Ghantut”, was launched last January. The two vessels – whose names come from an area of the Emirates near Abu Dhabi – were ordered in 2010 within the “Falaj 2” program and will be delivered between the end of 2012 and early 2013.

Fincantieri and NLI signed an important collaboration agreement
The shipbuilding giant Fincantieri Cantieri Navali Italiani S.p.A. and NLI, a Norvegian total supplier to Oil & Gas business, announced the signing of a collaboration agreement, supporting the aim to penetrating the Mobile Drilling Units construction market.
This agreement includes the development of an innovative high quality drilling tower.

COSTA FASCINOSA, THE LARGEST ITALIAN-FLAGGED CRUISE SHIP, ENTERS SERVICE IN VENICE.
An investment worth 510 million euros, 500 Italian suppliers, 10,000 workers.
The Costa Fascinosa and all the other ships in the fleet raise the already high safety standards by introducing 7 new initiatives.
The Costa Fascinosa makes her debut just two months after the delivery of the Costa neoRomantica and will be followed, in October 2014, by a new 132,500 gross tonnage Costa ship, also to be built in Marghera.
Since 1990 Costa Cruises has invested 5.8 billion euros in fleet expansion and renewal carried out in Italian shipyards.
On the occasion of the delivery, Costa Cruises presented its itineraries for 2013.

Fincantieri and Viking signed an MoA for two new ocean cruise ships
Viking Ocean Cruises, a sister company of Viking River Cruises, the world’s leading river cruise line, and Fincantieri, world leader in cruise shipbuilding, announced the signature of a Memorandum of Agreement for the construction of two new luxury ocean cruise ships, with an option for a third vessel.
The two ships will be small by today’s standards at about 45,000 GRT and will host 998 passengers in 499 cabins .

SECOND MULTIPURPOSE FRIGATE LAUNCHED: VIRGINIO FASAN
Italo-French Fremm program continues

Following the launch of the “Carlo Bergamini” last July, today Riva Trigoso (Genoa) shipyard celebrated the launch of the frigate “Virginio Fasan”, which is due for delivery at the end of 2012. The vessel is the second of a series of Fremm vessels - Multi Mission European Frigates - which were ordered from Fincantieri by the Italian Navy within the framework of an Italo-French program of cooperation.

FINCANTIERI: MUGGIANO LAUNCHES THE “GANTHOOT”, FIRST OF TWO STEALTH PATROL VESSELS FOR THE EMIRATE NAVY
Fincantieri shipyard at Muggiano recently launched the “Ganthoot”, the first of two stealth patrol vessels included in the “Falaj 2” program in progress for the United Arab Emirates Navy who ordered them in 2010. The ship, whose name comes from a geographical area in the Emirates in the neighbourhood of Abu Dhabi, will be delivered in the last half of 2012.
