The vessel’s size, transport capacity and support capability are well suited to the roles the Italian Navy is required to play abroad. The ship is equipped with facilities enabling her to support operations such as relief missions and act as a mobile logistic support unit for task forces required to operate outside the Mediterranean Sea. Four units have been built for Italian Navy: Cigala Fulgosi, Bettica, Borsini, Foscari.
