An award-winning ability to innovate
In 2014 the Fincantieri Group received two important awards: the National Award for Innovation and the Andrea Pininfarina Award for Business Innovation.
Now in its sixth year, the National Award for Innovation, better known as the “Premio dei Premi” (the Award of Awards), is the most important award for innovation in the "Made in Italy" sector. Established in 2008 at the Cotec Foundation for Technological Innovation by the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers to celebrate National Innovation Day, it is given by the President of Italy to companies, public bodies or individuals who have excelled in promoting a culture of innovation. The aim is to encourage companies to develop a culture of change in keeping with the aims set out by the European Commission in “Horizon 2020”.
In this specific case, this important award was given to our Group for having promoted an innovative approach to the relationship between business and universities by means of our "Innovation Challenge". This initiative is devised, in partnership with the subsidiary CETENA, with the Polytechnic School of the University of Genoa and the University of Palermo, to encourage universities to generate out-of-the-box ideas and to promote the concept of making clean technological breaks when developing Fincantieri products.
Award for Business Innovation
The Andrea Pininfarina Award for Business Innovation is organized by Confindustria in collaboration with the Fondazione Giuseppina Mai, Intesa Sanpaolo, Medio Credito Italiano, Unione Industriale di Torino and with technical support from the Associazione Premio Qualità Italia (APQI).
The star of the 2014 ceremony was Fincantieri, with its widely recognized capacity to invest large amounts of human and economic resources in research and development each year, a commitment that is considered essential for the Company to maintain its global leadership in the sectors in which it operates.
