Fincantieri Shanghai

Fincantieri established a branch in China in 2015, with headquarters in Shanghai: Fincantieri (Shanghai) Trading Co. Ltd. to guarantee its presence on the Chinese market.

The procedure is part of the Company's international expansion strategy in order to take up the significant business opportunities offered by the Chinese market in several sectors: cruise, ship repairs and conversions, offshore and supply of marine systems and components.

In July 2016 Fincantieri and the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), China's largest shipbuilding conglomerate, signed an agreement to set up a joint venture with the aim of developing and expanding the Chinese cruise industry. Fincantieri has thereby taken on a leading role in a strategic market with great potential.

The joint venture will develop and sell cruise ships that have been customized for the Chinese and Asian market and intended for this market alone. All vessels will be built at the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) shipyard, part of the CSSC group, based on a technological platform licensed from Fincantieri for the joint venture and the SWS shipyard, which, through this joint venture, will provide the services it deals with.
