The Logistic Support Ship (LSS) provides a full logistics support to the fleet. The ship is capable of combining capacity to transport and transfer to other vessels of the fleet both liquids (diesel fuel, jet fuel, fresh water) and solids (emergency spare parts, food and ammunitions) using its two refuelling and replenishment stations during side-by-side operations at sea. LSS can also perform at sea repairs and maintenance works, both mechanical and electronic, for other ships using its fully equipped workshops.
The logistic capabilities of the vessel are completed with depots for ammunitions and missiles as well as for fresh and frozen food to be supplied to the vessels of the Task Group.
The vessel has remarkable healthcare capabilities being endowed with a fully equipped hospital. The Combat System is limited to the capacity of Command and Control in operational scenarios, self-defense by means 2 small caliber guns, communications and dissuasive non-lethal defence.
LSS has intrinsic dual use characteristics and can be used to support the population in case of disaster relief.
