People and communities

Protection, inclusion, and development of people and communities
The enhancement and inclusion of our people, respect for human rights, and attention to the areas where we operate are key values for our Group and are reflected in the second development focus of our 2023-2027 Sustainability Plan.

THE PROFOUND SOCIAL AND CULTURAL CHANGES THAT IMPACT LIFESTYLES AND WAYS OF WORKING, AS WELL AS THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE COMMUNITIES WHERE OUR PRODUCTION SITES ARE LOCATED.

As a sign of a company culture based on valuing people, in 2024 we launched the first employee share ownership plan, which saw significant participation. Because Fincantieri is not just a company—it’s a community. We want those who work with us not only to be active participants but also to benefit from our growth.

We devote constant attention to the health and safety of our employees and workers throughout the value chain: we are committed to promoting fair, safe, and inclusive working conditions and to supporting the wellbeing of our suppliers' and partners' personnel.

Our company culture is also reflected in our support for communities: we engage in constant dialogue with local stakeholders and promote initiatives to foster the social, economic, and environmental wellbeing of the areas in which we operate.

We value our people
We believe that a cohesive internal community is essential to face the challenges of an increasingly complex market. For this reason, we develop structured training programs aimed at supporting the growth of both technical and soft skills. We have adopted a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) model to enhance gender, cultural, generational, and disability-related diversity. Every year, we conduct a survey to understand the needs of our people and gather their suggestions. We also innovate through our welfare model, offering new services for individuals, families, and leisure time.
Our people
We are committed to human rights
To protect human rights throughout the entire value chain, we have adopted a specific Policy, which is regularly updated. In 2023, we already assessed the effectiveness of our measures with a Human Rights Risk Assessment (HRRA): a due diligence process at Italian and European production sites and with our main contractors and suppliers to map human rights risks. Based on this initial analysis, in 2024 we defined a monitoring plan, identifying initiatives to be progressively developed, involving our people and the supply chain.
Human rights
We support local communities with projects and initiatives

The “Fincantieri Group Policy on Initiatives for Communities and Territories” formalizes our commitment to maintaining constant dialogue and providing support to local communities, as outlined in our Purpose.

The Policy defines seven lines of action:

  • Promote employment and integration, also through the development of educational and training programs
  • Strengthen Group identity and the sense of belonging among both employees and the communities themselves
  • Promote activities for the protection and enhancement of artistic, historical, and cultural heritage
  • Support scientific research and technological innovation
  • Support the most vulnerable
  • Protect health and promote research
  • Raise awareness of climate change and environmental impacts

We carry out numerous projects and initiatives to realize our commitment in line with these actions.
