Maritime/hydraulic works

INTEGRATED MODEL

Fincantieri Infrastructure Opere Marittime is the fincantieri group company specialized in the design and construction of highly complex maritime and hydraulic infrastructures. with a portfolio of over €630 million in works carried out over the past ten years, it is a national benchmark for the construction of port facilities, coastal defenses, dredging, and environmental interventions.

The company stands out for an integrated approach that combines advanced engineering, construction capability, and technological innovation. multidisciplinary teams collaborate from the early stages with public bodies, port authorities, and private clients to develop solutions optimized in terms of cost, environmental impact, and execution time. this model enables effective management of even the most complex challenges in contexts subject to landscape constraints or hydrogeological risks.

WITH OVER €630 MILLION IN WORKS CARRIED OUT OVER THE PAST TEN YEARS, IT REPRESENTS A NATIONAL CENTER OF EXCELLENCE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF PORT FACILITIES, COASTAL DEFENSES, AND DREDGING.
TECHNOLOGICAL EXPERTISE

Fincantieri infrastructure Opere Marittime is capable of designing and building complete port structures, adopting a wide range of engineering solutions, including:

  • Prefabricated cellular caissons, built on site and launched using specialized techniques;
  • Steel sheet piles, for the construction of retaining walls and containment structures;
  • Open structures on piles, ideal for piers and quays in areas with deep seabeds;
  • Breakwater dams made of natural and artificial rocks, for coastal protection;
  • Commercial quays and piers, designed for docking large-tonnage vessels;
  • Coastal defense works and shoreline reinforcement, for environmental protection;
  • Dredging and environmental remediation, carried out in compliance with current regulations.

All solutions are developed to ensure durability, safety, and environmental compatibility, with particular attention to infrastructure resilience to climate change and rising sea levels.

RECENT PROJECTS
During 2024, the company strengthened its strategic role in the national landscape through participation in major infrastructure projects, including:
Port of Ortona
+
Awarded to a company 80% controlled by fincantieri, the works involved the expansion and modernization of logistics infrastructures, with the goal of enhancing the competitiveness of the Abruzzo port.
Offshore platform at the port of Venice
+
Built by TCM S.c.a.r.l., with fincantieri holding a 41.56% stake, the project is designed to enhance the commercial and logistical capacity of the lagoon port, featuring cutting-edge engineering solutions and a strong focus on environmental sustainability.
These projects demonstrate the company’s ability to operate in complex environments, contributing to the development of the national port network and the enhancement of strategic infrastructures.
INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY

Innovation is at the heart of fincantieri infrastructure Opere Marittime’s strategy. projects are designed using advanced digital tools such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), hydraulic simulations, and predictive environmental models. This approach allows to:

  • Optimize construction processes;
  • Reduce environmental impact;
  • Improve infrastructure resilience;
  • Ensure traceability and transparency throughout all project phases.

The company is also engaged in research and development projects in collaboration with universities, scientific institutions, and competence centers. Among the most significant initiatives are those dedicated to protecting the Venetian lagoon ecosystem and enhancing port infrastructures in Southern Italy, in line with the objectives of the national recovery and resilience plan (PNRR).
