PRODUCT LIFE-CYCLE MANAGEMENT
IN SERVICE SUPPORT (ISS)

During the initial operational phase, we ensure our presence on board to manage real-time familiarization needs and operational issues. We provide a turnkey, performance-based service for carrying out preventive maintenance activities planned over the medium to long term, aiming to minimize the risk of failures and downtime.

Through direct feedback management, we constantly optimize the maintenance plan and update technical documentation, delivering tangible added value and ensuring full compliance with expected performance. We are always at the client’s side for corrective maintenance interventions: thanks to our partnerships with leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), we guarantee rapid response times, immediate material availability, and fast stock replenishment.

With our Follow-on Training service, we support continuous crew training and updates, acting as a reference point to ensure their skills remain aligned with the latest innovations.

MAINTENANCE REPAIR OVERHAUL & CONVERSIONS (MRO&C)

Fincantieri offers a wide range of interventions to modernize operational units or refit units initially considered for decommissioning. Thanks to our expertise in shipbuilding and repair, we are able to design and carry out Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul activities both at the Group’s production facilities and at the client’s naval bases.
INTEGRATED LOGISTIC SUPPORT (ILS)

A complete range of services that supports the ship throughout its entire life cycle. We design and implement logistics based on the client’s specific needs, optimizing the product’s life-cycle cost.

We ensure logistic support for units by providing onboard and onshore spare parts, special tools, and load-out equipment, managing all phases of the process directly: from identifying and sharing requirements to purchasing, coding, packaging, transportation, and testing. Starting from preliminary technical documentation, we produce all operating manuals in various military/international standards, essential for operating and maintaining all systems and equipment of the naval unit effectively and safely.

We provide training for crews and client maintenance teams—whether civilian shipowners, institutional operators, or naval forces—by developing tailored training programs and offering a comprehensive Board, Lodging & Transportation service.

Engineering services

  1. Maintenance Plan Optimization
    Developed in the preventive domain, this service optimizes maintenance plans through In-Service Support activities and constant contact with key suppliers. Optimization also includes adjusting maintenance plans based on specific contingencies and/or changes in mission profile. The result: increased operational availability of units with reduced life-cycle costs.

  2. Configuration Management
    Within ISS, we manage ship configuration during unit operation by installing software and databases on board, in the arsenal, and at Fincantieri.

  3. Obsolescence Management
    Continuous database updates and ongoing supplier involvement allow us to manage obsolescence and plan replacement interventions both for preventive and corrective maintenance.

  4. Inspections and Checks
    Our highly qualified personnel carry out periodic or on-demand inspections and checks to identify specific intervention needs and/or schedule repair and modernization work.

  5. Feedback Management
    We handle “field returns” during ISS and transfer information to Original Equipment Manufacturers to set up the most appropriate continuous improvement actions.

We are able to transfer to client navies design, production, management, training, and operational expertise in a balanced and structured way, through programs tailored to adapt to specific needs and the level of knowledge already acquired by the client, optimizing growth and making them increasingly autonomous.
Decommissioning

In the event that a naval unit cannot be refitted at the end of its life cycle, we manage all decommissioning activities: design, execution, and support.

All this is carried out in full compliance with environmental sustainability regulations and with the utmost commitment to safeguarding workers’ health and safety.
