The agreement signed by Fincantieri is the first of its kind with a foreign institute

Trieste, 30 April 2015 – Fincantieri and the Faculty of Maritime Studies of the University of Rijeka signed an important Memorandum of Understanding to establish a cooperative relationship in a broad range of areas, as well as the intent to work together for mutual benefit. The agreement, which lasts one year with the possibility of renewal, allows Fincantieri for the first time to add a foreign institute to its network of partnerships in advanced training. In Italy similar agreements have been signed with the University of Trieste, Genoa and Palermo.

In particular, the parties will encourage various collaborative activities in the field of maritime business, including the development of programs on graduate and post-graduate level, the exchange of ideas and expertise, the support of specific discipline interaction.

The first shared initiatives to be undertaken in this agreement will be a presentation day of the company, organized by Fincantieri at the university in June, and an activity of job posting, that is the publishing on the bulletin boards of the faculty of the positions sought by the company as well as internship offers for the best students.

As further demonstration of the commitment of Fincantieri in the growth of its cultural and expertise heritage, in 2014 the Group invested 101 million euro - 2.3% of its revenue - in research, innovation and development. This commitment is necessary to strengthen its position through a continue product and process innovation in a market in which the capability of expressing a state-of-the-art-technology is one of the main factor of competitiveness.
Fincantieri’s network of research and innovation consists of over fifty Italian and European universities and centers of excellence and of more than fifty qualified suppliers worldwide.
