Respect for the environment, for local territories and for each individual with whom we share areas and activities, is an essential prerequisite to ensure the continuity and growth of our Group over time, to the benefit of future generations.
FINCANTIERI FOR THE GREEN FUTURE
The communication campaign launched in 2019 as part of the Fincantieri for the Green Future project has continued, focusing on promoting virtuous and eco-sustainable behaviour.
The objectives of the campaign are to:
- consolidate the culture of sustainability and the virtuous path that the Group has undertaken in terms of environmental protection, giving practical form to the objectives published in the Sustainability Plan;
- disseminate projects and strategies aimed at reducing environmental impact to all stakeholders by first involving employees, but also suppliers, in the sustainability path;
- create greater individual awareness and sensitivity in order to encourage all employees to make a tangible contribution to safeguarding the environment with virtuous behaviours in day-to-day life, also outside of work.
The campaign to involve and raise awareness among Group employees was carried out by launching special messages around the four natural elements: earth, air, water and energy.
Various tools were used in order to reach all employees, both in offices and on sites and both online and offline, including posters in the main gathering places or passages, videos and messages on the screens located in the shipyard canteens, e-mails to employees with PCs and on the Company intranet.
FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE SEA CAMPAIGN
A feasibility study on the implementation of a Campaign to protect the sea has been carried out. Starting from the benchmark of existing campaigns, a long-term project with a strong environmental, cultural and research focus was developed. The objective, through calls to action addressed to international organizations, research bodies, non-governmental institutions, universities and academic institutes, is to evaluate and select projects aimed at safeguarding, monitoring and cataloguing the biodiversity of the Mediterranean Sea.
The project is based on a set of pillars, namely continuity, long-term, science, development and young people.
As a matter of fact, it aims at making a significant and permanent difference to the study and protection of the habitat and marine biodiversity, through initiatives supported by a certified scientific approach and in order to generate direct effects on the socio-economic and cultural fabric of the territories. Moreover, it must include the involvement of young people, as the future of the planet is entrusted to them and the efforts to preserve the integrity of the ecosystems are directed to them.
