The largest passenger ship ever built in Italy
Today at Monfalcone shipyard there was the delivery of the “Carnival Magic”, the new flagship of Carnival Cruise Lines, which at 130,000 gross tonnes is the twenty ninth cruise ship to be built by Monfalcone yard and the most innovative of the Fun Ships owned by Carnival, the world’s leading cruise operator.

Construction of the “Carnival Magic” will be long remembered in the history of shipbuilding. At over 130,000 gross tonnes, 306 metres long and 37 wide, the “Carnival Magic” is a sister ship of the “Carnival Dream”, which was delivered in 2009 by the same shipyard. Featuring the highest standards of technology and comfort for her passengers, the new vessel combines the majesty of an impressive size with a modern, appealing design, also thanks to advanced engineering solutions. In addition, the ship provides a wide range of entertainment to satisfy the all the tastes and requirements of international cruisers, including the SportSquare: the largest open-air fun area in the fleet, a mix of fitness and entertainment. Two unmissable features are the SkyCourse, the first cable way suspended over the sea at a height of 53 metres and Skyfitness, an exclusive area equipped with weights in the open-air.
In delivering this vessel Fincantieri has repeated its record of building the largest passenger ship in the history of Italian shipbuilding. Compared to the previous ship, the Carnival Magic has more cabins - 1,845 - plus 746 cabins for the crew, providing accommodation for over 6,000 passengers and crew. 60% of the cabins have a sea view or private balcony.
Since 1990 Fincantieri, a world leader in the sector, has built 59 cruise ships, of which 52 for different brands in Carnival Group.
