Today Fincantieri and Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), the global leader in innovative cruise travel, celebrated the delivery at the Marghera (Venice) shipyard of Norwegian Luna, the second ship of the expanded Prima Plus Class that Fincantieri is building for the ship owner.

The ceremony was attended by Biagio Mazzotta, Chairman of Fincantieri, and by Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager of the Fincantieri Merchant Ships Division. Present for Norwegian Cruise Line and its parent company, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NCLH), were Marc Kazlauskas, NCL President; Patrik Dahlgren, NCLH Executive Vice President, Chief Vessel Operations and Newbuild Officer; as well as Daniel S. Farkas, NCLH Executive Vice President and General Counsel.

Like her sister ship, Norwegian Aqua, delivered by Fincantieri in 2025 and featuring a gross tonnage of 156,000, an overall length of 321 meters, and over 3,550 berths, Norwegian Luna is 10% larger than the first two Prima Class vessels, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva, which also showcase Fincantieri’s distinctive craftmanship. The ship offers guests generous open spaces, refined design elements, and an array of unmatched experiences, including the Aqua Slidecoaster, the NCL-exclusive hybrid between a rollercoaster and waterslide; the Glow Court, an innovative high-tech digital sports complex featuring an interactive LED floor; the Luna Midway, an outdoor amusement‑park‑style area featuring carnival‑inspired games, as well as the Moon Climber, a multi‑level obstacle course created for the whole family. As her predecessors, Norwegian Luna features Ocean Boulevard, the most expansive 360-degree outdoor promenade ever built.

The delivery of Norwegian Luna, which over the past few months has involved 3,000 people working tirelessly onboard, including Fincantieri employees and partner companies, comes just a few weeks after the announcement of a major agreement signed between Fincantieri and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. for the construction of three next-generation cruise ships. This agreement includes one vessel for Norwegian Cruise Line, in addition to the four ships already covered by the maxi-order announced in February 2025. The vessels in this new class of ships are scheduled to be delivered between 2030 and 2037. This new agreement further strengthens the close and long-standing relationship between the two Groups.
