Carnival Liberty was built at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone yard in 2005 for market-leading cruise operator Carnival Cruise Lines from the United States. She is the fourth in a series of identical units based on the Carnival Conquest class.

Carnival Liberty was fitted out to offer high standards of comfort and a wide range of entertainments. She boasts a 1,500-seat theatre, 5 pools (one with a sliding roof), 22 bars, 4 restaurants (seating 1,104, 872, 736 and 148, including one self-service and one à la carte), a casino with 18 tables and 216 slot machines, a disco with 445 computerized video monitors, an internet café, a games room for children, an array of shops, gyms, a fitness area and a jogging track, plus volleyball and basketball courts.
