The Aircraft Carrier/Amphibious ship Trieste is a powerful amphibious assault ship that can deploy the landing force using LCMs (Landing Craft Mechanized 23 mts long with a load capability of 60 tons) and Helicopters of dierent type. The LCM are launched, recovered and parked in a floodable dock able to host four of these boats fully loaded and ready for the mission. Afore of the floodable dock there is a garage deck dimensioned to host dierent kind of vehicle up to the Main Battle Tank of the Italian Army and the new Amphibious Armoured Vehicle of the Italian Landing Force. For the recovery of the dierent aircraft there is a large hangar deck connected to the flight deck by two elevators. If necessary, the hangar deck can be used to extend the vehicle transport capability using a fixed internal ramp. The ship is dimensioned, sized and equipped to be fully operational with the F35B of the Italian Navy. The ship is also equipped with an impressive Combat System that ensures excellent self-defense and thanks to its radar suite and its medium-range missile system, it can ensure Area Defense and engage every type of missile threat at long range. The CVH/LHD’s has a strong dual capability to support the civil population in case of disaster relief thanks to the fully equipped Hospital area and the capability to:

• Transfer and disembarking of people and wheeled or crawled vehicles in equipped and non-equipped areas
• Supply drinking water to land through on-board desalination plants or storages
• Electrical power supply ashore (up to 2000 kW) and its distribution through containerized conversion and distribution units
• Rescue operations by means of helicopters and organic boats.
