The ship has highly flexible operational capabilities,which enable her to carry out not only her primary function as aircraft carrier, but also function of transporting wheeled and tracked vehicles. The vessel is equipped with a full-length flight deck with ski-jump designed for operating with V/STOL F35 and helicopters. For housing the embarked aircraft there is a hangar deck of about 2,500m² with two elevators connecting it to the flight deck.

When in RoRo configuration the hangar is used partially or totally as garage deck for vehicles embarked trough a side or a stern ramp. In the garage can be parked up to 24 MBT or 100 light armored vehicles.

The ship has remarkable medical capabilities with a fully equipped hospital to support not only every kind of military operation but also humanitarian missions and disaster relief operations.

The ship is also equipped with a high-performance combat system, latest-generation active and passive detection sensors and with excellent capabilities especially in the AAW domain, thanks to its S/A missile system, artillery systems employing guided munitions and an excellent electronic warfare component.
