FCX40 is a new generation Multi-role Frigate capable of performing a wide range of mission profiles across various operational environments.

Its Combat System ensured extremely high operational capabilities on a 4,000-ton platform in all warfare domains. The principal Anti-Air Missile System (32 Aster family Missile) ensures Air Defense and contrast to ballistic missiles. FCX40 is also fitted with a high performant ASW Sonar Suite composed by VDS, HMS, TDS and last generation ASW decoys as well as the MU90 is a top-level NATO-standard LWT. The FCX40 will also be equipped with a next-generation Surface/Surface - Deep Strike - missile system. An effective contrast against asymmetric threats and small/medium size drones is ensured by the new and highly effective OMEGA 360 anti-drone radar. The FCX40 is a front-line frigate and is designed to maximise the ship survivability with a high level of redundancy in terms of operational spaces and system, minimizing signatures (radar, infrared, magnetic, and acoustic) ensuring superior stealth and resilience in challenging environments. It oers the same level of survivability of frontline frigates, it can maintain 50% of its propulsion and power generation capabilities even if two adjacent compartments are flooded. The propulsion system can have a CODAD or a CODLAD configuration depending on the operational requirement. The flight deck and hangar are equipped to accommodate an NH90 helicopter and a UAV.
