Trieste, May 9, 2022 – The company's first corporate nursery, “Fincantesimo”, was inaugurated this morning at the headquarters of Fincantieri's Merchant Ships Division. It will be ready to welcome the children from the start of the 2022-2023 school year.

The inauguration was attended, among others, by Fincantieri CEO Giuseppe Bono, who strongly supported the realization of this initiative, Carlo Cremona, Executive Vice President Human Resources and Industrial Relations of the Group, and Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager Merchant Ships Business Unit.

Despite the pandemic, Fincantieri has hired more than 1,400 employees over the last three years. Most of these are young people, lowering the average age at the company. The company carried out an in-house survey in 2021 to verify interest in nurseries and received strongly positive feedback that led to development of the project.

At full capacity the nursery will be able to accept 38 children, both children of Fincantieri employees and workers of the supply chain companies. The company will bear the cost of the service, except for a monthly fee paid by the parents of the children attending the nurseries, based on their ISEE (Equivalent Financial Situation Indicator) bracket.

In case of available capacity, the service can also be extended to the local community.

The event falls within the scope of the agreement for the creation of corporate nurseries to support parenting, signed in January this year by Fincantieri with the Minister for Equal Opportunities and Family Elena Bonetti and the secretaries general of the FIM, FIOM and UILM trade unions.

The next nursery will be the one for the employees of the Monfalcone shipyard, based in the former “Albergo Operai” building, a symbol of Fincantieri’s historic bond with the local community. Works are scheduled to begin between the end of 2022 and early 2023. Implementation of the project will then continue with the gradual activation of the service at the other company sites.
