Fincantieri and TUI Cruises, a joint venture between TUI AG and Royal Caribbean Cruises, celebrated the delivery of “Mein Schiff Flow” at the Monfalcone shipyard. The vessel is the second of two next-generation InTUItion class cruise ships, designed for dual-fuel operation (Liquefied Natural Gas – LNG and Marine Gas Oil – MGO).

The delivery ceremony was attended by the Prefect of Gorizia, Ester Fedullo, the Mayor of Monfalcone, Luca Fasan, and the civil and military authorities of the region; Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, Biagio Mazzotta, Chairman of Fincantieri, Pierroberto Folgiero, Chief Executive Officer and  Managing Director of Fincantieri, Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager of Fincantieri’s Merchant Ships Division, and Cristiano Bazzara, Director of the Monfalcone shipyard.

With approximately 160,000 gross tons and a capacity of about 4,000 passengers, “Mein Schiff Flow” is based on a new-generation design developed by Fincantieri to combine innovation and sustainability. The project places energy efficiency at its core, aiming to reduce operational consumption and minimize environmental impact in compliance with the latest regulatory standards.

Designed to operate on LNG propulsion, “Mein Schiff Flow” is also prepared to use low-emission alternative fuels such as bio-LNG and e-LNG. The ship is equipped with catalytic converters compliant with Euro 6 standards, a steam turbine, using the residual heat from the diesel generators, as well as an electrical shore-power connection. Together, these features will enable virtually emission-free operations while the vessel is berthed in port, accounting for approximately 40% of its operational time. The unit also features an innovative and highly efficient waste treatment system capable of transforming organic materials into recyclable components through a thermal process.

“With the delivery of Mein Schiff Flow, we celebrate a new milestone in our collaboration with TUI Cruises and reaffirm the strategic role of the Monfalcone shipyard as a center of excellence in global shipbuilding,” said Pierroberto Folgiero, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Fincantieri. “Here, innovation, sustainability, and industrial expertise are transformed every day into productive capacity and international competitiveness. This achievement demonstrates the strength of an ecosystem that continues to evolve, investing in the technologies of the future and enhancing Italy’s industrial know-how. I would like to thank all those who, through their professionalism, passion, and dedication, have helped make this important milestone possible.”

The delivery of “Mein Schiff Flow” further strengthens the partnership between Fincantieri and TUI Cruises, built on mutual trust and a strong industrial collaboration. This relationship was reinforced by the contract signed last September for the construction of two additional InTUItion-class vessels, sister ships to “Mein Schiff Relax” and “Mein Schiff Flow”, scheduled for delivery in 2031 and 2032 respectively. These ships will be built to the most advanced environmental standards, further strengthening the relationship with TUI Cruises and Royal Caribbean while confirming Fincantieri’s ability to support the growth of the world’s leading cruise operators.

The delivery also reinforces the central role of Monfalcone in the construction of next-generation cruise ships and its position as the Group’s main shipyard. At the shipyard, more than 45 cruise ships have been built, and approximately 6,500 people work there every day. The facility serves as a key industrial and employment driver for the local area and is a strategic asset for innovation and the advancement of the shipbuilding industry.
