HOSV is a new Hydro-Oceanographic Survey Vessel, currently in service to the Italian Navy, able to conduct scientific research in the hydro-oceanographic field in various environmental contexts, such as the polar regions. It will be equipped with cutting-edge systems in this specialized field. Specifically, the vessel will utilize underwater surveillance systems, such as active sonar, to perform this function and will be equipped with highly technological unmanned vessels.
The vessel will have an Integrated Full Electric Propulsion configuration with two podded propulsors for high maneuverability. To conduct high-precision scientific activities, the vessel will be equipped with a dynamic positioning system and roll reduction systems.
