Fincantieri and Oceania Cruises, a brand of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., celebrated the keel laying of Oceania Sonata™, the new next-generation luxury cruise ship, at the Marghera shipyard. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2027.
The event was attended by Harry Sommer, President & CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises, Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager of the Fincantieri Merchant Ships Division, and Marco Lunardi, Senior Vice President of Marghera shipyard.
At 86,000 tons, Oceania Sonata™ will be able to accommodate 1,390 guests and will stand out for its generous spaces and high-level comfort, further consolidating Oceania Cruises’ tradition of culinary excellence, exclusive travel experiences, and refined luxury.
The ship is the first unit of the new Sonata class, the next-generation series building upon the highly acclaimed Allura class, praised for its elegance, sophistication, and build quality. The two ships of this class - Oceania Vista® and Oceania Allura™ – were built by Fincantieri at the Sestri Ponente shipyard and delivered in 2023 and 2025 respectively.
Oceania Sonata™ will be followed by three sister ships, Oceania Arietta™, scheduled to join the fleet in 2029, and two as-yet-unnamed Sonata class vessels in 2032 and 2035.
