This Service Operation Vessel (SOV), the third of four for North Star, has been purpose-built to support O&M (Operations and Maintenance) work at the Dogger Bank offshore wind farm, which will be the largest in the world once completed.
Based on the VARD 4 12 hull, she has been adapted for efficient operations in the challenging North Sea, 130 km off the English coast. Her main features include a motion-compensated gangway and elevator, a boat transfer system, and a 3D crane for cargo handling.
The 78-meter vessel accommodates 60 people and uses a hybrid diesel-electric system with Voith eVSP propulsion and a retractable azimuth thruster. Vard Electro’s SeaQ package ensures optimized energy management, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
