The opening of the Monfalcone corporate nursery, the second facility Fincantieri has opened in just over a year, strengthens the Group’s ties to the Isonzo area where one of its most important shipyards is located. The first “Fincantesimo” – as the company nurseries are called – was opened a year and a half ago in Trieste, within the Merchant Ships Business Unit, and is fully operative and satisfying the users’ needs. 

The new nursery is located in a part of the former “Albergo Operai” and confirms Fincantieri's commitment to parenthood support by providing a high-quality and close service for its employees and their families. In Monfalcone, “Fincantesimo” will accommodate 34 children at full capacity, both of Fincantieri employees and of the community workers. The company will bear the cost of the service for the Group’s employees, except for a monthly fee, paid by the parents of the children attending the nurseries, based on their ISEE (Equivalent Financial Situation Indicator) bracket.

The initiative is part of a series of measures and services aimed at favoring work-life balance of Fincantieri people and bears witness to Fincantieri's tradition of social welfare policies, in addition to its historical connection to the areas where it operates. The importance of supporting parenthood and assisting workers returning from parental leave was discussed and agreed upon by the entire Management and trade union organization, also during the renewal of the last corporate supplementary agreement, signed in October 2022. The project will continue with the gradual activation of the childcare service at other company sites.
