“We believe that adopting a sustainable business approach means making a commitment to create long-term value, not only for shareholders, but for all stakeholders. This is only possible if sustainability becomes a cornerstone of the corporate strategy and the company acts on three dimensions: environmental – minimizing favoring the impact of activities on the environment; social - promoting initiatives in favor of people and the community; governance - ensuring the business integrity; aspects contained in the acronym ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance)”.
The Group's sustainability commitments are contained in the Charter of Sustainability Commitments, approved by the Board of Directors of Fincantieri S.p.A., which is part of the policies and guidelines that support us in our activities, together with the Code of Conduct and other documents on specific themes.
Moreover, the Charter of Sustainability Commitments is a central element of our integrated sustainability strategy because it is an expression of the commitments that guide the Group's actions regarding relevant sustainability issues, which are set out in the Group's Sustainability Plan in qualitative and quantitative goals that can be measured over time and are reported annually in the Sustainability Report.
Through the commitments undertaken by the Group and broken down in the Charter of Sustainability Commitments, we are committed to contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, because we believe that success can be long lasting only with responsible, ethical business management.
Our sustainability commitments, divided into Governance, Social and Environmental (ESG) topics are set out below:
