Yesterday, at the Team Environmental Infrastructure Academy in La Goulette, the ceremony for the delivery of participation certificates for the theoretical and practical training courses for naval welders provided by the "Progetto Tunisia", promoted and launched by Fincantieri, took place. The event celebrated the achievement of 20 young graduates who, from February 1 to May 15, completed a 298-hour civic, linguistic, and professional training course.

The ceremony was attended by the Italian Ambassador to Tunis, Alessandro Prunas, the Head of Group Organization Development, Learning & Labour Cost at Fincantieri, Alessio Belli, the Head of Subcontracting Development at Fincantieri, Carlo Giordani, the Project Manager of ELIS, Elena Petrich, and the Training & Innovation Manager for Orienta, Federico Biazzo.

Progetto Tunisia is a pilot project initiated by Fincantieri which, within the framework of the Italy-Africa strategic plan "Mattei Plan" and thanks to the opportunities offered by the Cutro Decree, aimed to select and train young candidates with previous work experience locally, who are now expected to be employed in Italy as naval welders within the Fincantieri supply chain.

The courses, held in La Goulette and Bizerte in Tunisia, initially focused on learning the Italian language and culture and training on topics such as health and safety in the workplace, then moving on to more specific topics such as the shipbuilding process, welding procedures and sequences, and manual welding laboratory exercises.

This project is part of a broader Group strategy dedicated to training and selecting professional figures even beyond national borders, with the aim of building bridges between industry and cultures, promoting a corporate culture based on inclusivity and respect. Through these initiatives, Fincantieri's commitment is to demonstrate that the best innovation is the one capable of creating economic and social value, transforming challenges such as labor shortages into opportunities for shared growth.

Luciano Sale, Director of Human Resources and Real Estate of Fincantieri, commented: "With Progetto Tunisia, Fincantieri reaffirms its commitment to valuing talent and promoting integration, demonstrating that training is the first step to building a shared future. It is a commitment that goes beyond industry because investing in people means believing in the strength of skills and the ability to generate progress and value, not only for the company but for the entire shipbuilding sector."

Progetto Tunisia was realized by Fincantieri thanks to the collaboration with the ELIS Association, the Orienta Employment Agency, and three Tunisian partners: Cluster Maritime Tunisien, Groupement Professionnel National des Industries Nautiques de la CONECT, Team Environmental Infrastructure Academy, and for practical training, with the company Palescandolo CNT sarl.
