Angelo Fusco was born in Casale Monferrato (Italy) on 10 August 1952. He graduated from the University of Genoa in Naval and Mechanical Engineering in 1977.

 

POSITIONS

In October 2016 he was appointed as Executive Vice President Naval Vessels Business Unit of Fincantieri and since April 2011, he has been the head of the Italian division of the Naval Vessels business unit. He is also member of the Board of Directors of Etihad Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Fincantieri registered in Abu Dhabi (UAE).

PROFESSIONAL CAREER

He started his career in 1978 at Cantieri Navali Riuniti, firstly in the engineering area where he was responsible for basic design and for the outfitting department, and then in Cantiere di Muggiano S.p.A. as responsible for the tests and trials of the frigates ships “Sucre” for the Venezuelan navy.

 

In 1984, following the establishment of the operating company Fincantieri – Cantieri Navali Italiani S.p.A., he moved to the commercial department of the Naval Vessel unit, at the beginning as Manager of the Africa Middle and Far East area, then as Product Sale Manager for Surface combat ships and, in 1991, as Sales & Marketing Director of the Naval Vessel business unit. In 1996, he was appointed as responsible of Auxiliary and Special Vessels with focus on acquisition, development and performance of the orders.

 

In 1999, he was appointed as responsible of Surface Combat Naval Vessels, and in this area was responsible for various programs including corvettes “Cigala Fulgosi”, patrol ships “Sirio” for the Italian Navy, corvettes “Laksamana” for the Malaysian Navy and for the acquisition of the “Cavour” aircraft carrier contract for the Italian Navy.

 

From December 2002 until March 2016, he was CEO of Orizzonte Sistemi Navali S.p.A., a JV set-up in 1991 between Fincantieri (51%) and Finmeccanica S.p.A. (49%), where he also worked for several important modernization programs, including those related to destroyer “Admirals”, FREMM frigates ships for the
Italian Navy and BDSL landing ships for the Algerian Navy.
